Kennel Cough is one of the leading causes of death in dogs. Kennel cough goes by the scientific name tracheobronchitis. It’s a very contagious upper respiratory illness that can quickly move through a kennel. It’s a deadly illness that can be difficult to treat, if not dealt with early. Kennel Cough is spread from dog to dog by coughing and sneezing. In a closed and close environment like a kennel, this disease can spread very rapidly.

Dogs can be born with diabetes or get diabetes at any time in their life, just as humans do. When a dog has this illness, it is no different than the form that people have. Diabetes in dogs is a chronic disease. This means that treatment can not cure this and make it go away. Any person or dog with diabetes will need ongoing treatment to control it, manage it and keep symptoms from becoming troubling.

Old dogs are like newly born babies in the sense that they have no capability of telling anyone that they are experiencing pain. Old dogs move slower and become less active day in and day out. As owners, you can only assume that they are in pain if you see them acting strange and restless. More often than not, this pain comes from arthritis. Arthritis in dogs is experienced mostly by older dogs, and is felt more by the larger dogs as compared to the smaller breeds. Arthritis in dogs especially in the larger breeds gives them the difficulty to move around as they did during their younger years.

Arthritis affects one in five dogs over the age of seven. And seven is the median age for when a dog is becoming an older dog. Of course, abnormal weight puts more pressure on your dog’s joints. This causes more pain and swelling. In this case it’s good to reduce the fat in your dog’s diet. If your dog has arthritis he shouldn’t eat foods with preservatives, wheat, soy, corn or food colorings. Most commercial dog foods have several grains in them and they increase inflammation, which irritates arthritis.

Behavior problems are at the top of the list of unhappy dog owners. Each year dogs are abandoned, put out of their adapted homes, or put to sleep because of bad behavior. Destructiveness, excessive vocalization, and house soiling are the most common signs of separation anxiety. These bad habits occur when the dog is separated from its owner.

The American Kennel Club has registered the German Shepherd dog in its club since 1908. Actually in the 19th century it was bred for herding, because of its strength, intelligence and its excellent temperament. At that time it was already a German Shepherd mix because it was a cross breed between three types of shepherd dogs found in three different regions of Germany. They were the long-haired, short-haired and the wire-haired shepherd dogs. Used extensively by the police and the army, they became excellent guard dogs and guide dogs. They were also used for search and rescue purposes.

Arthritis is a general term for abnormal changes to a joint. Arthritis can occur when joint tissue is damaged from an infection, from congenital defects that affect the structural integrity and from stress and trauma to joint surfaces and supporting structures.
